Welcome

Welcome to the Tarantula Mapping Project.

This has come about after I had an idea earlier in the week to utilise Google Maps to show the geographical distribution of our favourite beasties.. the tarantulas.

Tarantulas will be highlighted on a countrywide basis in that for example, Brachypelma Smithi, the Mexican Redknee, will be listed as native to Mexico. Under no circumstances will this project give any further localised information on the location of any species, with country of origin being as detailed as you will get, it will never be a guidebook for those who wish to find and collect tarantulas from the wild.

If anyone wishes to contribute to the project in any way, by way of information or photographs, please contact me. It is possible to add other editors to the map for anyone that wishes to help more, however for obvious reasons I will not be opening this facility to everyone, perhaps an idea would be to keep this open to members of the British Tarantula Society, in which case you can contact me via a private message on the BTS forum (Stuart Common)

It is intended that the information will be as true and accurate as possible, however mistakes can sometimes be made, so if anything is found, again please let me know and it will be corrected straight away.

Please remember that this is being done as a project by myself in my spare time so may take a bit of time to gather pace, it is not affiliated with the BTS in any way.

Thank you for reading, I hope this will be usefull to people, comments and suggestions are very welcome.

Stuart
